His significant discovery of the Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR) and its balance with the Glucocorticoid Receptor (GR) has revealed the critical role of cortisol in shifting brain function from protective to harmful states in stress-related disorders. His extensive research has significantly contributed to the understanding of stress mechanisms and their implications for mental health.
